St. Timothy's Varsity Basketball Team Victorious in Overtime
Stevenson, MD - St. Timothy's Varsity Basketball team emerged victorious from a scrappy battle in their season opener at home Wednesday against conference opponent Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. St. Timothy's team was solid, defensively collecting 14 steals, including seven by freshman point guard Jada Johnson. Senior captains Duru Tasman and Mia Bryant helped limit Mt. Carmel's second-chance shots and give St. Timothy's extra chances to score by collecting 16 rebounds together. Junior Sevval Istanbulluoglu and freshman Jasmine Johnson added to St. Timothy's dominance on the boards by grabbing another 14 rebounds combined. Freshman Bri Rider and junior Sevval Istanbulluoglu were offensive sparks, each making three-pointers and baskets that gave St. TImothy's momentum at key moments throughout the game. Istanbulluoglu made the layup that sent the game into overtime. The next opportunity to support both JV and Varsity basketball at home is Wednesday, Dec. 13th against conference opponent Glenelg Country School.
